Mythenquai Strand Pavilion

Mythenquai Strand is situated at the coastal zone of the Zürich See. The green area is especially used by people to escape from the rush of the city of Zürich. Here you can lay in the sun or have a swim in the summertime and go for a walk in the wintertime. The new pavilion is situated in the centre of this green zone. The main function of the pavilion is to serve food and drinks.

The typical oval form of the pavilion is based on the main function of the building: to cook, prepare, serve and sell food and beverages. The outside ring contains the food and beverages functions. Here the food and beverages will be stored and prepared. The middle ring is the employees area where the food and beverages will be served. And the inner area is the public zone where the customers will come to buy the food and beverages they like. This clear function scheme of the pavilion will generate a clear working process during peak hours.

The thick concrete skin of the building will keep the warmth inside the building during the wintertime. In the summertime the building will be cooled by the water of the lake.
